HBTY

Being totally self indulgent with this post.  This is a pic I had taken of me and Rick Springfield on 2/10/10. He is saying Aussie, Aussie, Aussie and then we both went oi, oi, oi and punched our fists in the air. Really cool moment.

Just wanted to acknowledge that Rick turns 64 today and is still rocking it.

Lux food - double page layout

It's a pretty grey and rainy day here in Perth.

Papercrafting Inspiration: Magazine Mondays - Week Eighteen Inspiration Piece (image)
This is the inspiration image for Week 18 at Papercrafterscorner magazine Monday challenge.

I think you can pretty clearly see where I have my inspiration from. I have a small all capital orange title and a large title across the centre. I also have blocked photos surrounding the title. I have a journal block like the mag cover as well. Have to have the story. I also have all of the same colours.

I love to take photos of food. These are taken at Gosha's Restaurant at our last trip to Bali. There was a big group of us at a long table. All of the meals looked and tasted fantastic. The fruit plate was a dessert option that Kiki had. Take a peek at my cocktail in a coconut. The long piece coming out of the right of it was a plaited leaf. Amazing.

August scrapbooking challenges

HOLIDAY FUN - CUCC19 at Soul Scrappers.

This is the layout I have created for my latest Designer challenge over at Soul.

The criteria is to:

  • use the word Holiday in your title

In this instance I use the word holiday to mean School holiday but you could use it to mean travel also.

  • use 2 photos
  • use the colours blue, green and white as the dominant colours
  • use the paper weaving technique. This is a really simple, yet effective technique. You can see my effort in the bottom left hand corner.

You have until 4 September to upload your challenge. If there are 8 entries or more I have a terrific RAK to give away.

Other challenges I encourage you to try are:

ARTastic where I am a Guest Designer this month. Here's the inspiration pic.

AUGUST inspiration comes to you from Splash by Alan Lewis

Archiscraps Here is the inspiration pic.

From screen to scrap Here is the inspiration pic.

A real mixed bag. Something there for everyone.

The Little Things - a card

I made this card yesterday using American Crafts pink cardstock. I'm entering it in to the Guest Designer challenge at Soul Scrappers. It's a tic-tac-toe challenge.  I chose the row of FLOWERS, TWINE and BLING and I added another choice which was green.

I'm also entering it into Flourish With A Bling's August challenge. Criteria were:

The requirements are:
1. Use the quote provided for inspiration: “It’s the little things that make life wonderful”
2. Use at least one Flourish With A Bling Item
3. Have fun with it!!
** Layouts, cards and OTPs welcome

I've used the words "the little things" and added a little birdie and the bling items are the rose pink pearls which can be found here in their store. They are just such a gorgeous colour.

Good Times - a childhood layout

In this layout I'm enjoying our tree swing and am around 10/11 years old. Shortly after the photo was taken I swung up too high and slipped off backwards and banged my head on a tree root.

Week 17's magazine cover inspiration at Papercrafter's Corner is:

Papercrafting Inspiration: Magazine Mondays Week Seventeen Inspiration Piece (title)

You can see my inspiration is from the girl with her brown hair in plaits and the punches of  yellow and red.

UPDATE:
I'm happy to relate that my layout won this week.

GUEST DESIGNER AT ARTASTIC

This month I am a Guest Designer at the challenge blog ARTastic which Jane Howden runs.  You take your inspiration from a painting.  I've been doing layouts for this site on and off for a couple of years. I was previously a Guest Designer there in October 2011.

Here is my layout for this month. It is called View From The Eye (the London one).

This is the painting by Alan Louis, called Splash, that you have to draw your inspiration from. It's a watercolour on paper.

splash-ebi-art-show

The criteria is to use watercolour on your project. I chose to use a mix of acrylic paint, mists and watercolours.  I've taken the placement of things in the painting and replicated them in my layout. I've used a wintery photo like the theme of the painting too.

Here's a list of products I used:

Paint: Kaisercraft - Grape acrylic, Crafter's Choice - light blue acrylic, Renoir - stone acrylic
Tattered Angels glimmer mist - delphinium, dazzling diamonds
Dylusions, crushed grape mist
Cotman watercolours - Payne's Gray and Purple Lake
Creative Memories embossed purple cardstock - distressed the edges
Bella! Bling - Wave
Purple CM pen
daisy hill vellum - travel
Vintedge by RRI chipboard

Thanks for looking. Why not have a try at the challenge this month.

Back to School page

The 3 years difference in my boys ages really shows up in the photo. I always take a photo on the first day of the School year and measure and weigh my boys on the first and last day of the year to show how much they've grown.

I've created this layout for 2 boy challenges:

Scrap The Boys wanted a monochromatic page with twine and chipboard. I chose yellow due to Mark's school shirt. The CB is the clock and I have Maya Rd yellow/white twine in a bow.

About A Boy asked for a back to school layout for their 1 August challenge. In the USA kids are going back to School after summer break. My photo is obviously a summer one but that's no problem.

CSI Case File S365-1 - I Like Driving

CSI have linked up with a UK Scrappy mag called Scrap365 for this case file.

I originally took this selfie not to scrap but for another reason. When I saw this case file I knew I had this photo and thought I would scrap it. It fits.  I do love to drive. Whenever we go somewhere as a family it is usually me that does the driving. I have a good sense of direction and memory for places.

THE SCENE
I've used all the colours and have a photo of a lady driving with sunglasses on.
EVIDENCE
map print, stripes, dashed lines, circles, sunburst and travel accents
TESTIMONY
document a road trip, spread your journalling across 3 labels, inspiration word drive

I've also used some of the printables that went with the case. These are really handy and I still have plenty left to use on other projects.

ARCHISCRAPS DT layout - READY TO HAVE FUN

I love going to concerts. I happily organised tix to go and see one of all time favourite bands, Duran Duran. Back in the 80's when I was a teen I went to see them at the Entertainment Centre with my College girlfriends. Two of them accompanied me this time, along with four of my current girlfriends who are big fans as well. We got great seats at Sandalford Winery and went along early to begin festivities.  Here's my page of us with our food and wine.

The page is my Designer layout for Archi-scraps for August.
I started with a paper with pink horizontal lines to represent the building's bricks. I have a lot of pink accents from the window frames. I stamped 3 rows of pink flowers for the window boxes. Plus there are pink flowers at the base of building so I made my flowers pink. I thought the roof and drainpipe looked a grey/blue colour to me so I've used teal mist and blues in my flowers.  I put a pink ribbon vertically up the right side to represent the drainpipe. It also looks a bit like bricks.

Here is the charming inspiration photo and the extra criteria is to use flowers.
Isn't it lovely?

Final DT layout for From Screen 2 Scrap

Leaver's Shirts

Sadly, this is the last month for From Screen 2 Scrap. It has just not had the support needed for it to carry on. I have really enjoyed my time on this Design Team and wish to thank Shazza Bishop for having me. It is a terrific concept and I would love to see it get back up in the future with lots of participation. There is hope for 2014.

This month's inspiration movie poster is from the movie Hoot. See here for more information on the movie.

This month is a free scrap with no added criteria except 3 points if you add an owl to your page. Easy, right? I think so.

My inspiration was drawn firstly from the people facing away. I knew I had a photo of Mark's Grade 7 class with all the kids facing away to show the backs of their special Leaver's shirts. I also drew inspiration from the colours and the overall busyness of the poster. I also have my little owl button so I got the 3 points.

These shirts had special significance for me as I was the one who organised them for the kids.

Thanks for looking and I hope you're motivated to give this challenge a go for their final month.

I would love to see LOTS of entries so as to go out with a bang.

UPDATE

Well, that's it. The challenge is over and every entry won a prize. Even I did. My other Designers picked my layout as the DT pick. Very surprised about that. Happy too.  Keep your eyes out next year for the return of this challenge. Til then, catch you in cyber scrappy world.
