Dining Out - A layout for CSI #72

This week I have joined in at CSI with their case number 72. It's an enjoyable challenge.  You have a lot of criteria to follow.  Here's what I included:

I have used all the colours, as required.
EVIDENCE:
birds, leafy vines, birdcage and metal
TESTIMONY:
Place your journalling in a vellum pocket (I have taken a photo of the little journal box, it also has a bird on it)
Inspiration words: balance, everything, purpose (I've used the words everything and balance in my journalling on the actual page)

Case solved!

A 50/50 page challenge

What is that you ask?  Head over to my new challenge up today at Soul Scrappers to find out.

I'm going to be working on some ATCs today with the theme of shoes. One of my favourite things in my closet is my shoe collection. I say collection because I have many pairs. I actually have a sandal shoe cabinet. It's brilliant.

Hope you have a happy day with a bit of crafting in there somewhere.

Ferris Wheel

I took my boys for a fish and chip lunch at Sweet Lips in Fremantle in the April holidays last year. Afterwards I suggested we go on the ferris wheel which was a short walk away. This particular wheel had been on Riverside Drive in Perth but was moved to Fremantle. It's not that high. Damon still wasn't that keen but Mark and I persuaded him. These pics were taken on my mobile phone so they aren't great, only 5mp. You get a bit of a view of the background though so I thought that was cool.

I've created this layout using the sketch below.

Stupefy for SATW, a new challenge blog

Who doesn't love Harry Potter? I went to  TheWizarding-World-of-Harry-Potter inside Islands of Adventure on my birthday in 2010. I loved it.

Here's a layout featuring photos from it.

I've created it following the challenge at a new site called Scrap around the world. The name appealed immediately. There is a mood board and a sketch to use. I have flipped the sketch to suite the photos.

I chose the background paper to  represent the wardrobe, one colour with some distressing, except I chose white to represent the snow on the buildings in my first photo.
Then I have used the colours, obviously the aqua is the most present, following by the brown/red and a little bit of green and some white.
I have added a WOW chipboard piece to replicate the fabric flower on the back of the chair in the photo top right.

At this stage there are already 50 entries for this competition. Unbelievable.

Thanks for looking.

A retro card and fingers and petals

CARD FOR ARTASTIC AND JOY'S GRAM

I have made this retro card for the challenge at ARTastic this month. The inspiration is Tea Time by stencil artist Michael Duncan (pic below). I've used a Prima tea cup stamp and we had to use a stencil. I've used a Crafter's Workshop one with a metallic violet pen top right.

I'll be sending this card to a friend in the US's Gram who is turning 100. She's also blind so I wanted a bit of texture and height so I've used pop dots, a punched edge and some tissue paper.

May inspiration comes to you from stencil artist Michael Duncan with Tea Time 2012

Yesterday I went along to the Fingers-and-petals-the-handmade-flower-show in Fremantle with my friend Kathy. I made the two flowers below, one from felt and wool (red one) and a pink dahlia type one from an old blanket. I also made a brooch after this photo was taken out of bits of fabric and a small piece of shadecloth. It was a lot of fun. There was also an exhibition and sale. Most of the works were sold by the time we arrived. I've added my favourite piece below. I'm inspired to create more and have lots of ideas running through my head today.

Here is a layout I have entered at Anna's Craft Cupboard. The link takes you directly to May's gallery. You use the sketch by Wendy Smith above as inspiration.

I've also entered it at Whitewith1 where the challenge is to use white, black and banners.

Entry for FWAB's May challenge

I created this layout entitled "Us" today for Flourish With A Bling's May challenge, which is to use buttons and bling. Their DT's examples (see here) this month were amazing. Well done to them.

I started with the frame page and used a cardboard stencil, not a scrappy one, just one I had kept from a game where the pieces were punched out. It left a great square template. I painted inside the squares with a sage colour I mixed up. I decided to create a tree with my buttons. I've used FWAB's Lee's Tree (I love that name). I have cut some self-adhesive tape to create the "leaves" and a matching one to go underneath the base of the tree. Then I've added my buttons on top. I've also used FWAB's Trent's Fence, some Creative Memories Nancy O'dell Gratitude series photo mats and embellishments, some K&Co glitter stickers and Kaisercraft flowers.

Thanks for looking.

My scrappy place

My scrapping space is actually our dining room. I took it over when I became a CM Consultant and this is where I held many a class and workshop. I have retained the space even though I am no longer a CMC.

As I've just been overseas on holiday I decided before I went to tidy up my scrapping space. This photo is about as tidy as it gets. The table in the background is where I keep my punches, cutting tools, ribbons and a few other bits and pieces.

May challenge with Autumn Leaves for Archi-Scraps

This month's challenge at Archiscraps is up. This is what I have created.

I've tried to base my layout on the look of the inspiration pic. I have picked up the mustard, pink, brown and blue colours from the picture. I saw the inside of the lamp and the ground in the foreground as blue. The pink is toward the top and the mustard fills up a lot of the bottom. I have also added a strip up the left hand side to replicate the left hand side wall in the pic. Also my photos include some really interesting architecture at a theme park and as the challenge is architecturally inspired I thought it suited.

If you want to join in, make a layout and head over to Archiscraps to link it up.
