Horsin' Around

I've created this layout using Wendy Smith's sketch for Anna's Craft Cupboard this month.  I love the blue green and touch of orange combo. I've used some Graphic 45, Webster's Pages and Basic Grey. I've also hand made my tag.

Thanks for looking.

School layout

As a young girl I went to 2 primary schools. The second one was Byford Primary School. It was a bit distressing to say the least to leave your friends behind (and the love of my life who I fell in love with at first in Grade 2) and move to the country. They were also about six months behind on the curriculum and had nothing much to teach me for quite some time. I used to go and help the Grade 1's learn to read during maths.

Anyway, over at Soul Scrappers the theme for week 6 of scrapping your childhood memories is Primary School. Of course I don't have photos so I got the photo in the layout from Byford Primary's current website. It didn't look a whole lot different in my day, just had a hedge across the front.

Don't forget to try the following challenges where I'm a Designer.
Remember also that February is a short month.

My first DT challenge at Soul Scrappers

Very excited today. I have just uploaded my first "Cooking Up Creations" challenge as a Designer at Soul Scrappers.

I chose to do a cooking with ones challenge. That meant everything was a multiple of only one. See here for all the instructions that you will need to enter.

Here is my layout. It is a self portrait photo, hence the title "Selfie". I've used Webster's Pages, because I adore their products.

Please join in, I'd really, really love it if you did.

Great Travels

I love this colour combo. It's perfect for beach pics. I've used lots of Webster's Pages Palm Beach collection and made my own flower and banner.

This layout is for two sites:

The Color Room's palette #143
Picture

and Ant's Ideal Date challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50 for their Date Night cyber crop. You had to have a banner and at least 2 shells.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting.

Vintage card for Mum

I've made my Mum a vintage card. It is her birthday coming up. Mum, if you read this post, I hope you like it. I've used a sketch for a new blog I've been made aware of courtesy of Julene called Feeling Sketchy. Here is the sketch:

TITLE PAGE and GREAT NEWS

This is my title page for my 2012 family page.

I started with the Emerson quote, which is lovely. There's a challenge to use this quote here at Soul Scrappers. This idea just popped into my head. I love the blues with the touch of green, white and pink. I've added a little hand made pennant which I made myself.

Well, the news is that I am now a Designer over at Soul Scrappers. I have taken on a position to create a "Cooking Up" recipe.  My first challenge will be up on Valentine's Day, this Thursday. Please rush over to take a look and then support my first challenge by entering a layout. I'll love you forever if you do.

Cricket layout

This is the link to the challenge at Soul Scrappers. Mandy Dodd creates some really beautiful pages, often making her background really unique and special (Hi Mandy, if you're reading this). I've been following her for some time and was pleased to try her guest designer challenge.

I chose to use mists on cardstock to make my background. I sprayed 3 different Mr Huey's colours, then pushed a 12x12 square of bubblewrap on to it to create a pattern. I then thought, why waste all that ink and pushed the bubble wrap on to another piece of cardstock to use at a later date.

The green mist represents the grass. The yellow is for sunshine. Cricket is a summer sport. For instance, Mark is playing a game tomorrow and the temperature forecast is 38 degrees celcius. The larger red splotches are to show the movement of the cricket ball flying through the air as it is being bowled.

Why not give the challenge a try yourself. You have til the 28th of Feb. It's fun.

Thanks for looking.

Treasure Island - reveal for FS2S

This layout is of the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It's just one of the many on the strip that we saw when we went there in October 2011. I still haven't finished scrapping our 2010 trip entirely but the inspiration movie poster at From Screen 2 Scrap begged for these photos to be used.  It is Casino Jack. See pic below.

The criteria is:

1pt = Grey base card stock
2 pts = playing card/s
3 pts = money notes

Try to get all the points if you can.

I have used light grey American Crafts cardstock. I tore up some Sassafras Lass paper that I had in my stash for ages because it had hearts on it and made it into the shape of an island. It also replicates the shoulders of the actor in the poster. Then I piled on the photos, the US dollar bills and some playing card patterned paper.

Hope you can join in. See http://screen2scrap.blogspot.com.au/ to view the other Designers' inspiring layouts.

Congrats! - A graduation layout

I love this photo of Mark. He looks proud as punch as so he should be.
I've completed this layout for his School album and am entering it into 2 challenges:

1. Flourish with a bling  The criteria is School with a year or date on it and of course one of their items. I've used Chloe, the pretty blue flourish under the photo.
2. Black with 2 challenge The criteria is to use dominant black with blue and yellow and 5% white.

The dot technique is created using a crafter's 6x6 template, gesso and blue and yellow paint.

Thanks for looking.

Archi-Scraps DT reveal - Swimming Race

Hi everyone,

I have made my Design Team layout for my new position at Archi-scraps for their February challenge. Click here to view the post where there should be a Mr Linky to add your page to. I have copied the challenge below. It is so worth viewing the link to see this fountain in action.  There are two video clips to watch.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/24/elaborate-mirror-fountain_n_1028949.html

Czech artist David ÄŒerný's North Carolina piece 'Metalmorphosis.'

Maybe it is because it is a giant, mirrored head which rotates, spits water, deconstructs and reconstructs before our eyes. Or perhaps it is the fact that the whole thing is filmed on webcam so you can keep tabs on it at all times. But it's most likely because 'Metalmorphosis' makes our world look the way we secretly hoped it would when we saw 'Terminator' for the first time.

The mammoth undertaking weighs 14 tons, and the "seven-metre tall structure with horizontally-moving stainless-steel plates... form, and re-form, a giant metal head." Since 2007, it has been on display at the Whitehall Technology Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.here's a link to a video where you can watch it move.

Present a layout (or card) using a headshot (close up) of a person and use bling.

I chose a water themed photo for my layout. It is of Mark and his friend Nathan who both competed in a breaststroke race for their school. I wanted to use some similar colours but also add in the red of the lane divider in the photo. You have to use a close up shot of a person (I have one and a half) and some bling. I've got some ice blue rhinestones in a swirl to satisfy that criteria. Below is a list of elements that I used to create this page.

Products used:

Creative Memories Princess Tales Additions paper for the background (talk about using a paper for a completely different purpose)
Webster's Pages Palm Beach Trim; Petite Papers Triple Pack and Palm Beach journal Card
Foam dots
Cre8iv red ink
Creative Memories red pen
Kaisercraft ice blue rhinestones
Creative Memories Mediterranean Market ABCs

I hope that you choose to give this new challenge blog a go. There is a lot of scope and the inspiration photo is a real beaut.
